The Department of Maritime Rescue of Dubai Police recovered a sedan car that fell into the waters of Dubai Creek. No causalities have been reported in the accident.
Major Ali Al Naqbi, Head of Maritime Rescue Section, said that the accident occurred because the car driver did not take safety measures to stop his vehicle at the parking spot and failed to apply the manual brake in time.
He confirmed that the department received information at the operations room that a car had fallen in the middle of Dubai Creek and passengers could be trapped inside. He said that the maritime rescue patrols team swung into action and reached the site within two minutes.
Major Al Naqbi pointed out that the deputy officer of Maritime Rescue Department Mohammed Jumaa supervised the operation, wherein divers were sent down to the fallen car to check if there was anyone trapped inside it.
When it was ensured that the car was empty and the driver was safe, the team pulled the car out with a police crane.
