FMs of Egypt, Jordan, Palestine to meet over peacemaking drive

A tripartite meeting grouping the foreign ministers of Egypt, Palestine and Jordan will take place in Cairo on Saturday to follow up the developments of the Mideast peace process, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on Thursday.
The meeting is the second by the three ministers to boost the Palestinian issue, the spokesman said. The first one was held in Amman on May 14.
The meeting aims at exchanging viewpoints as regards the peace process ahead of high-level meetings of the UN General Assembly, Abu Zeid said.
He added that the meeting comes as part of the three countries' keenness on assessing the current situation in the Palestinian territories in the wake of the Israeli escalations in Al Quds and other Palestinian cities.
The meeting also comes ahead of the visit of a US team sent by US President Donald Trump to the Mideast region in a bid to revive the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks.
The team includes US presidential adviser Jared Kushner, US envoy for international negotiations Jason Greenblatt and deputy national security adviser Dina Powell.
