Egyptian Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazi met with Thomas Waldhauser, the head of the Pentagon's Africa Command, known as U.S. AFRICOM, on Thursday for talks over developments in Libya.
Talks, attended by US Ambassador to Libya Peter Bodde and a number of Egyptian army officials, tackled regional and international efforts to settle the Libyan crisis and achieve a reconciliation among parties concerned with the Libyan crisis.
The two sides also reviewed the outcome of the meetings hosted by Cairo recently to settle the Libyan crisis.
Hegazi expressed Egypt's keenness on coordinating efforts to push forward political process in Libya, reaching satisfactory solution to all Libyans and rebuilding Libya's national institutions to preserve the integrity of the Libyan territories.
The US commander lauded Egyptian efforts to achieve a breakthrough in the current political stalemate in Libya, underlining the importance of continuing coordination to reach political solutions capable of preserving the security and stability of the Libyan State.
