Preparatory meetings for the 27th session of the Egyptian Jordanian Higher Committee kicked off Monday in Amman under the co-chairmanship of the Arab sector supervisor at the Egyptian ministry of international cooperation Fathi Abdel Azim and the secretary general of the Jordanian ministry of industry and trade Youssef Al-Shamali.
In a speech during the opening meeting, Abdel-Azim said that Egypt attaches importance to the Egyptian-Jordanian joint panel which will discuss a comprehensive agenda to develop cooperation in all fields, especially the economic ones.
He said that the Egyptian delegation is keen on bringing up positive results to enhance trade exchange and to remove its obstacles in addition to stimulating the private sector to establish more investment opportunities.
The official hailed the committee as one of the most successful committees at the Arab level as it is regularly held. He also lauded the Egyptian Jordanian relations as a model for Arab cooperation.
The meetings will tackle the conditions of the Egyptian labor in Jordan to facilitate their stability and encourage them to contribute to the Jordanian economy, he further said.
He noted that a memorandum of understanding will be signed in the field of consular affairs to ease the conditions of the Egyptian community in the Arab community.
Ways to promote cooperation in the fields of transport, trade and agriculture will be discussed in addition to common interests in mirco, small and medium enterprises, along with enabling young people and women to benefit from their abilities in building economies of both countries, Abdel Azim said.
He added that means to implement what had been agreed upon during the joint business council during its 19th session in Cairo will be also mulled.
For his part, Shamali said that this session is a continuation of efforts of the 26th session of the Egyptian-Jordanian joint committee during which solutions were reached for main issues.
He pointed out that such resolutions have represented a leap in the economic, trade and investment relations between both countries.
