The Head of the Syndicate of Journalists Abdel Mohsen Salama welcomed the Italian decision to send new ambassador to Egypt Giampaolo Cantini, noting that the move series the interests of both countries.
In an interview with Italian AKI News Agency on Monday, Salama stressed that Egypt and Italy have common interests such as the files of terrorism and illegal migration.
There is joint economic cooperation also, he reiterated, adding that Italy has huge investments in Egypt such as Zohr gas field which will allow Egypt to achieve self efficiency of natural gas by end of 2018.
Earlier, Salama stressed that the media should clarify the misunderstanding that resulted after the death of Italian national Giulio Regeni in Egypt.
