The Ministry of Interior said Thursday that security forces in Qena governorate killed three terrorists believed to have taken part in targeting a number of churches and security checkpoints across the country.
The ministry said in a statement that Major Ahmed Abdel Fattah Goma Mohamed was killed in a security raid on the terrorists' hideout in Abu Tesht township in Qena.
Once security forces arrived at the hideout, located inside a cave in Abu Tesht, the terrorists began opening fire at them, killing Major Mohamed and forcing security forces to fire back. Three terrorists were killed in the raid, according to the statement.
The raid was launched following intelligence information about the whereabouts of the terrorists, the statement added.
