The 12-team 2017 Arab club championship kicked off in Cairo Saturday with an opening ceremony at Cairo's Salam Stadium.
Cairo and Alexandria will host the tournament which runs until August 6. Three groups of four teams will compete to qualify for the semi-finals, with the winners of each pool progressing along with the best performing second-placed side.
Group A gathers Egypt's Ahly, Jordan's Al Faisaly , Algeria's NA Hussein Dey, and UAE's Al Wahda.
Group B comprises Egypt's Zamalek, Morocco's FUS Rabat, Saudi Al Nassr, and Lebanon's Al Ahed.
Sudan's Al Merrikh, Saudi Al Hilal, Iraq's Naft Al Wasat, and Tunisia's Esperance are in Group C.
