Real Madrid stars as you’ve never seen them before adorned the side of an Emirates A380 as it touched down at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport in Spain.
As the Spanish giants sit on top of La Liga and remain on course for a record 33rd league title, images of some of their star players can now be seen soaring through the skies on the side of Emirates aircraft.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema and Marcelo are visible from both sides of the plane, with a bespoke decal covering an area of more than 500 square metres. Images show the players of the first team in action.
The Real Madrid A380 is expected to fly to a majority of Emirates destinations worldwide, giving global football fans a chance to snap a picture of their heroes as it makes its way around the world, including to the US, where the team will be travelling this summer.
Emirates has been the main sponsor of Real Madrid since 2013, with Fly Emirates branding prominently displayed on the players’ kits.
Players at fierce rivals Barcelona are unlikely to receive similar treatment, despite sponsorship with Qatar Airways.
The Doha deal comes to an end this season, with Japanese online retailer Rakuten replacing shirt sponsorship rights from next season.
